Pick a platform and a format. Google and Microsoft Ads for a responsive search ad, or LinkedIn, Meta and X for any ad format and placement.

Paste your copy. Every field counts characters against the real limit and marks where the placement cuts the text off. Paste a list of headlines and the rows fill themselves.

Check the preview and the score. Switch between desktop and mobile, change the placement, shuffle the combinations Google can assemble, pin assets, then copy the finished ad or download it as a CSV. No email gate. Everything stays on this page and nothing you paste or upload leaves your browser.

Four platforms, one preview

How does the Ad Copy Previewer work?

Pick a platform and a format. Google and Microsoft Ads share one responsive search ad, since both use the same limits. LinkedIn covers Sponsored Content (single image, video, document, carousel, event and thought leader ads), the right rail (text, spotlight and follower ads) and messaging and forms (message ads, conversation ads and lead gen forms). Meta covers single image, video, carousel and collection ads across 16 placements on Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Messenger and Audience Network. X covers promoted text, image, video, vertical video, carousel and collection ads, polls, conversation buttons, follower ads, Amplify pre-roll and takeovers.

Paste your copy. Every field counts characters against the platform’s real limit and marks the point where the placement cuts the text off: the “see more” fold on LinkedIn and Meta, the 280-character post on X, the 30-character headlines and 90-character descriptions Google combines into a search ad. Paste a whole list of headlines and the rows fill themselves. Pin a headline or description to a position and the preview and the combination count follow.

Read the preview and the checklist. Switch between desktop and mobile, change the placement, shuffle the combinations Google can assemble, and add a logo or image to see the ad with real creative. The score rates the copy the way the platforms do: asset count, variety, keyword relevance, pinning and policy for a responsive search ad, limits and cut points for everything else. Copy the finished ad to your clipboard or download it as a CSV, formatted for Google Ads Editor in the case of the search ad. Nothing you paste or upload leaves your browser.

What the previewer checks

What does the Ad Copy Previewer check on each platform?

Each platform gets its own checklist, built from the limits, cut points and policies we work with in client accounts. The score updates as you type.

  • Google and Microsoft Ads. Up to 15 headlines of 30 characters and 4 descriptions of 90, two display paths, a business name and the keyword you are targeting. The checklist rates the ad the way Google rates Ad Strength: how many assets you use, how different they are from each other, whether the keyword appears in the headlines, descriptions and display path, how heavily you pin, whether some headlines are short enough to fit every placement, whether the descriptions carry a call to action, and editorial flags like exclamation marks in headlines, repeated punctuation and all caps. {KeyWord:Default text} insertion is supported and the combination count updates with every pin.

  • LinkedIn Ads. Intro text against the 600-character limit and the “see more” cut at about 150 characters on mobile and 210 on desktop, headlines against the 200-character limit and the 70-character cut, descriptions, carousel cards (up to 10, with the shorter headline limit when the cards open a lead gen form), text ad and dynamic ad limits, message ad subject and body, conversation ad buttons, event and thought leader posts. Personalization macros such as %FIRSTNAME% and %COMPANYNAME% render the way a member would see them. More than three hashtags and a missing destination URL are flagged.

  • Meta Ads. Primary text against the 2,200-character limit and the Feed cut at about 125 characters, headline and description limits by placement, carousel and collection cards, and 16 placements from Facebook Feed and Instagram Reels to Messenger Inbox and Threads. The checklist flags copy that Reels will hide, a headline that Instagram Feed, Stories and Instagram Reels never show, links in the primary text, words in all caps and triple line breaks.

  • X Ads. Post copy against the 280-character limit, with every link counted as 23 characters and every emoji as 2, website card titles, carousel cards, poll choices, conversation buttons and follower ads, across the Home timeline, Search, Profile, Replies, the Explore and first-slot Takeover placements and pre-roll on publisher video. Hashtags and @mentions that pull taps away from your ad are flagged, and so is a link in a follower ad.

Why preview ad copy before it goes live?

Most ad copy is written in a spreadsheet and approved in a spreadsheet. The platform then rebuilds it. Google picks three headlines and two descriptions out of up to nineteen assets. LinkedIn folds the intro text after about 150 characters on mobile. Meta never shows the headline on Instagram Feed, Stories or Instagram Reels. X cuts a card title at about 50 characters.

The result is ads that read well in a brief and badly in a feed: headlines that end mid-word, a call to action nobody sees because it sits behind “see more”, and a search ad with no room to test because every asset is pinned.

Previewing costs nothing. Finding out from a low click-through rate costs the budget it took to learn it. This tool shows every format on every platform the way the platform shows it, so what you launch is what you approved.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Every platform, format and placement is free, with no signup and no email gate. Copy and CSV export are included. Nothing you paste or upload is sent anywhere; the previews, counters and checks all run in your browser.

Google Ads and Microsoft Advertising responsive search ads, with pinning and a CSV for Google Ads Editor. LinkedIn Sponsored Content (single image, video, document, carousel, event and thought leader ads), right rail ads (text, spotlight and follower) and messaging and forms (message ads, conversation ads and lead gen forms). Meta single image, video, carousel and collection ads across 16 Facebook, Instagram, Threads, Messenger and Audience Network placements. X promoted text, image, video, vertical video, carousel and collection ads, polls, conversation buttons, follower ads, Amplify pre-roll and takeovers.

The limits are the ones the platforms enforce when you save an ad. Cut points, where a feed hides the rest behind “see more” or an ellipsis, vary by device, font and language, so the tool shows them as approximate figures based on the platforms' own guidance. Treat a cut warning as a reason to look at the preview, not as a hard fail.

Set any headline to Pin 1, 2 or 3 and any description to Pin 1 or 2, the same positions Google Ads offers. The preview only shows combinations that respect your pins and the combination count updates with each one, so you can see how much testing room every pin removes. Google treats heavy pinning as a drag on Ad Strength, which is why the checklist rewards light pinning with two or more assets per position.

No, but it follows the same factors Google describes for Ad Strength: how many assets you use, how different they are, whether the keyword appears, how much you pin and whether anything would trip an editorial policy. Google's own rating is only available inside your account once the ad is saved, and it also weighs your keywords and landing page. On LinkedIn, Meta and X the score is based on limits, cut points and the habits that hurt delivery, like hashtags, links in the copy and all caps.

Yes. Copy the finished ad copy to your clipboard for any platform, or download it as a CSV. For responsive search ads the CSV is formatted for Google Ads Editor with the pins included; add the campaign and ad group names and import it. For LinkedIn, Meta and X the CSV lists every field so it can go into a brief or a bulk sheet.

The checklist under the score lists every flag with the fix: trim a headline to fit, add the keyword to a description, unpin a position, drop the hashtags. Change the copy in the fields and the score updates as you type. If the copy itself is the problem rather than the formatting, that is a strategy question, and the kind of thing we handle in a PPC engagement.
